A White Eagle Wedding | Hamilton NY Wedding Photographers
From the moment we chatted with Karen and Alex over a year ago, Dave and I knew this wedding was going to be spectacular. The way they described each other, and their future together gave you chills up and down your arm. Once I met with Karen and her Mom, Cindy, I became even more excited. They were so laid back, happy and truly seemed to be enjoying the wedding planning process. Emailing back and forth throughout the year, I learned more and more of their families, their relationship, and their plans for their big day. I couldn’t wait!
The things you should know about Karen and Alex is 1-they are huge Harry Potter and LOTR fans, 2-they have a huge passion for adventure and their goal is to visit every National Park in the country, 3-they are very talented and super smart!, 4-they are surrounded by incredible family and friends that love them very much.
As a huge fan of Harry Potter and LOTR myself, I truly loved all the “nerdiness.” Hey-nerds are cool, people! From “Sting” being the utensil of choice to cut the cake, to the Gryffindor cuff-links that Alex proudly showed off, it was all my cup of tea.
Along with all the HP and LOTR elements, Karen’s Mom, Cindy, was hard at work designing, creating, quilting up a storm to make her daughter’s wedding so unique and personal. With the custom made stamp for the guest’s “passports,” to the amazing hand-made card box, to the beautiful quilt and backdrop–it was all crafted to perfection. You could tell many hours and so much love went into creating all of it just to make Karen and Alex’s day just that much more special. Hats off to Cindy, and all of those family and friends who created works of art for their beautiful wedding!
The adventurous side of Karen and Alex was quite evident whenever they started talking about their travels to all the various parks together. I loved how they carried this love of adventure throughout the theme in their wedding day. Now they are partaking on their own new adventure together, as husband and wife!
To say Karen and Alex are talented and smart is, I believe, an understatement. Having met at Colgate College in Hamilton, NY, they became very good friends. Their friends joked that they would end up married one day, although Karen and Alex couldn’t see that right away. Their friendship grew with each class and as time went by, before they knew it, they were indeed together. Both geologists, they could carry on conversations about matters that some people (ahem) could not understand. They did it in a manner that made it sound very important, and even…get this, FUN! Dave and I definitely got a kick out of trying to remember some of the names they called various things. Karen also is a skilled musician, and is releasing her second album playing the hammered dulcimer.
All throughout their wedding day, we were surrounded by the fun and loving support of their family and friends. It seems everyone was involved in the wedding somehow, even though just about everyone traveled to Hamilton NY from another state! Relatives did special readings during the ceremony, Karen’s ever-smiling Grandmother was the flower-girl, the musicians, the bridesmaids, the groomsmen–everyone was so joyful and genuinely happy for Karen & Alex. They all helped make their wedding day extra special because they all were a special part of it.
I cry at some point at just about every wedding I capture. When the groom sees the bride for the first time, when the mother of the bride hugs her daughter, when the bride’s daddy sees her for the first time, the vows, the first dance–it’s all very emotional. This was so true on Karen and Alex’s day! With so many wonderful people surrounding them with love, and their beautifully written (and funny) vows, to the way they held nothing back when celebrating their love–it was all too perfect not to shed a tear or two!
So without further adieu, please enjoy a taste of Karen and Alex’s wedding day. Karen and Alex–we had such a wonderful time getting to know the two of you, your family and capturing this time in your life. We hope your wedding photos bring a smile to your face for many years to come. May you have a long, happy and healthy marriage that brings you joy. Enjoy your next adventure together as husband and wife!
